The Medical Education department under the leadership of the Director works to ensure that our system of postgraduate medical education is established according to the internationally acceptable criteria and meet all the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).

Clinical Hematology is a relatively novel and exciting field in Pakistan and direly needed. At present, in oura nation of 240 million, less than 24 specialists in Bone Marrow Transplant exist (~ 1 for every 10 million). People from far-flung areas Skardu to Loralai, Afghanistan, Kashmir and Middle East have to scramble to get to a specialized center in big metros like Twin Cities and Karachi posing financial and logistic challenges because of non-availability of this specialty in many populous cities.

  • Benign Hematology (Anemias, Thalassemia’s, Aplasia etc.)
  • Coagulation (Thrombosis & Bleeding Disorders)
  • Malignant Hematology (Leukemia’s, Lymphomas, Myeloma and other Plasma Cell Dyscrasias etc.)
  • Blood Banking
  • Basics of Hematopathology (Histopathology, Immunohistochemistry, Flow Cytometry, FISH, PCR, NGS)
  • Bone Marrow & Stem Cell Transplant (including upcoming cellular therapies such as CART, Gene Therapy)
Fellowship Programme is to train individuals in the field of diagnostic as well as clinical hematology / Oncology. Fellow will undergo different rotations as per the CPSP guideline in hematology / oncology ward, clinics and daycare. Fellows will also be trained in diagnostic hematology so that they may have a holistic approach towards patients. They will be rotated in different areas and BMT unit for realization of basic knowledge about these vast areas of the specialty.

Duration of this fellowship Program is 03-years.

Evaluation of the Fellows are done in many ways:

  • Monthly Mini Cex
  • Clinical Evaluation
  • Bi-annual Evaluation
  • Departmental Exams

Program Director / Department faculty encouraged fellows to get involved in research activities.

Candidates are required to fill on-line application form. Please follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Register yourself by defining user name and password.
2. After your account is created, you will need to login to fill the Application Form. Programs offered will be displayed after registration.
3. A candidate can apply for only one program at a time.
4. Candidate may partially fill the form and save it on-line for resuming filling out the form later using login credentials.
5. Once the on-line application form is filled and submitted, candidate would be able to take a printout.
6. The hard copy of the on-line application form along with the required documents mentioned in the Application Form must be submitted to the PGME Office, Medical Staff Affairs either personally, through friends/relatives or through reliable courier service.

7. Check your junk emails (in case of email not received).

All residents are encouraged to get involved in audits and research projects, however research project as per CPSP requirements is mandatory for all.

  • MBBS from recognized institution with one-year House Job.
  • FCPS Part-I and FCPS Part-II (Medicine)
  • Valid PMC with Endorsed fellowship.
  • Only Shortlist candidates call for final Interview after documents scrutiny.
  • Final selection is based on Department faculty and MSA Interview.
