The Medical Education department under the leadership of the Director works to ensure that our system of postgraduate medical education is established according to the internationally acceptable criteria and meet all the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).

Dr. Sohail Hafeez

​The Department of Orthopedic manages patients with musculoskeletal conditions such as bone and joint injuries, degenerative joint diseases etc. The department provides a 24-hour trauma service for the hospital, managing all orthopedic trauma and injuries such as fractures and dislocations. It also coordinates the management and rehabilitation of patients after injury.

The Orthopedics residency programme is designed for the education and training of physicians to produce competent and ethical practitioners of Orthopedics who can meet the health care needs of the people of Pakistan and take up leadership role in Orthopedics.

The programme aims to impart in the trainee’s competencies inclusive of the competency framework of CPSP, comprising three meta-competencies i.e. Advocacy, Andragogy and Professionalism, and five core competencies i.e. Knowledge, Research, Team Work, Communication Skills and Critical Reasoning.

The Orthopedic residency spans over a period of 5 years.  This is in addition to two years of training in various surgical disciplines as mandated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan. ​ Rotations are in accordance with college of physicians and surgeons"

Each resident does an average of one night in four on-calls within the Hospital premises. The reporting time of residents is 8 am.

There are objective criteria for evaluation. Residents undergo continuous evaluation by supervising faculty throughout the training. Moreover, there is an annual examination administered by PGME, and an in-service practical exam administered by the Section of Orthopedics. Professional attributes, submission of synopsis, passing of Intermediate module, workplace-based assessments, research and presentations are all considered in evaluation and promotion decisions. Faculty meet twice a year to review performance and make a group decision about promotions. ​

Candidates are required to fill on-line application form. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

3. A candidate can apply for only one program at a time.
4. Candidate may partially fill the form and save it on-line for resuming filling out the form later using login credentials.
5. Once the on-line application form is filled and submitted, candidate would be able to take a printout.
6. The hard copy of the on-line application form along with the required documents mentioned in the Application Form must be submitted to the PGME Office, Medical Staff Affairs either personally, through friends/relatives or through reliable courier service.

7. Check your junk emails (in case of email not received).

All residents are encouraged to get involved in audits and research projects, however research project as per CPSP requirements is mandatory for all.
